Hot Dog Cart and Vendor Websites – FREE

Written by Ben. Posted in hot dog carts, hot dog vendor

Free! Yes, I said FREE!

Your just starting out, you’ve already spent money on educating yourself (hopefully not more than about $30) about the hot dog vending business, your cart is up and running and you would like to get an internet presence.  Maybe a facebook and twitter too.

Here’s how easy it is:

  • Go to a site like www.wordpress.com  Here you can create your very own website for free.  There are tips and tutorials, built in SEO (a search engine feature) and much more.  You pick a name and your new free web address becomes www.wordpress.com/yourcompanyname   Also look at www.blogger.com
  • You can go to a site like www.hostgator.com or www.godaddy.com and buy a domain name if you prefer.  This gives you your own unique web address, such as www.BensCarts.com   This will cost a few dollars a month for hosting but it comes with a free website builder and tons of free templates that give you features that would rival the professional sites.  One of the easiest ways to go.
  •  For other free sites, do a google search for free website.  You will find many.

Now what about getting a website built by a pro?  Let someone else do all the work for you.  I am going to give you several great ways to do this without spending all your freak’n money.

  • The lady that built this site will build you a customized 5 page site with all the cool stuff for only $200   (No, I don’t make one red cent)  Click Here
  • Elance: Just post a job and you will be bombarded with offers to build a site from $100 to $1000, you will get samples, 100% satisfaction and you can get some of the most dynamic and creative sites made for pennies on the dollar.
Realistically a website is not top priority when it comes to getting started as a hot dog vendor.  Using Facebook and Twitter will win you customers and fans much faster and for no money.  Facebook now allows you to create welcome pages, put a store online, a menu and a number of other things.  You can even make a voting page where customers can vote on different menu items.   Check out my facebook page for BensCarts.com:   Here
Never done any of these things: Youtube has free videos to walk you through any thing you want to do.  Want to know how to do your first free website on WordPress, go to YouTube.com and search WordPress Tutorial.  Bam, like magic the YouTube servers deliver you a plate full of free instructional videos.  Want to learn how to make great Facebook pages: Youtube search – Facebook Tutorial   It’s that easy.
My suggestion:  Start with a free Facebook Fan Page  Then start a free website at WordPress.com  - After your established and making money with your cart, take a little extra from your profits and purchase a domain name:  HostGator or Godaddy.com   Then convert your wordpress site to your new domain name.   All of this for less than $100 from start to finish.

    Ben,

You are so right about website and other things are not making you money.

My advice people is quit buying the books, paying for web pages, and other things that you may want on your cart or to do with you business. Reading and getting all of these things will not make your business successful, but rather getting out selling quality product, great customer service and having fun while you do it. The other things can wait until you are up and running and you have a successful business.

You hit the nail on the head, Dennis! All those things can wait. The sellers of these “get ya rich” systems are obvious. They must, I reiterate, MUST create elaborate pitches and employ tactics that are second to none, to entice the unsuspecting victims.

It hurts the market, erodes trust and discourages folks.
