Well howdy! Let me tell you—if you’re lookin’ to start or grow a street food vending business, then you’re in the right place.
We just wrapped up one heck of a live Q&A with some of the best vendors in the game, and the stories, questions, and solutions that came out of it are too dang good not to share.
So pull up a chair, pour some sweet tea, and let’s talk vending.
Facebook vs LinkedIn for Street Food Vending

Now I ain’t knockin’ Facebook.
It’s where your meemaw, your cousin Jeb, and half your hometown hang out.
Perfect for showing off your cart, posting your daily location, and getting that “Oh I’ve been meaning to try that” kinda customer.
You post before your shift, not while you’re packing up and heading out.
Join yard sale groups, community groups, and post like you’re just talking, not selling.
That’s the trick.
But LinkedIn?
Buddy, LinkedIn is where the big checks hide.

We’re talkin’ offices, warehouses, HR managers, property managers, supervisors—folks who can book you for lunch gigs on Tuesdays and write checks on Wednesdays.
I helped one vendor set up her profile, send a message like:
“Hey, I’m a licensed street food vendor here in town. We do pop-up lunches for offices. Perfect for teams and staff treats.”
…and boom.
She landed a $1,200 gig within 48 hours.
Crushing It with Street Food Vending in Small Towns
You’d be surprised how many folks think they need to be in a big city to make it with a hot dog cart.
Let me tell you—Jason Brown made stupid good money in a town of 9,000.
I talked with a vendor from Globe, Arizona—900 people in her town.
She ended up with two carts, same tiny town.
Gas stations, restaurants, they survive.
And you only need a couple hours a day, three days a week.
You don’t need 50,000 people if 150 of ‘em are lining up for your dogs, taters, or lemonades.
Small towns are nostalgic.
Unique.
And folks will line up because you ain’t another chain.
Get rural and kill it.

The Three Products Dominating the Vending Business

Lemonade
Start with lemonade if you're broke or just want quick profits.
$500 and you're in business.
Low risk.
Huge return.
Perfect for flea markets, fairs, and summer fests.
I’ve seen vendors fund their real estate hustle with lemonade alone.

Dirty Sodas
If lemonades are saturated, or the market’s full, go dirty.
Dirty sodas are the new gold rush.
Dr. Pepper with raspberry, vanilla, cold foam.
Red Bull with mango puree and coconut cream.
And the margins?
Vendors are spending 73 cents to make $6.
One guy replaced all his canned soda sales with dirty sodas.
Boom—5x the profit.
Cheesesteaks & Specialty Foods
Cheesesteaks, grilled cheese, loaded baked potatoes, exotic sausages.
All doable from a cart or trailer.
Just depends on your health code and how creative you wanna get.
You can cook the meat ahead, reheat, and build from there.
Weather, Stress & Vendor Troubles—Let’s Fix That
Windy day?
10×10 tent with vented roof and weights—cement-filled buckets with eyebolts do wonders.
If it’s too wild?
Stay home.
Ain’t no shame in putting safety first.
Feeling like a failure?
Heck, I failed more times than I succeeded.
That’s how I learned.
Jason and I are here to say—there ain’t a vendor we can’t help make money.
Whether it's small town blues or city chaos, the answers are here.
Sometimes all it takes is a product switch.
Marketing Gigs, Schools & Hidden Gold

Vendor tip: campgrounds.
You can do better in a campground with no food service than downtown sometimes.
Schools?
Teacher appreciation, bus driver breakfasts, PTA dirty soda bars—pure gold.
Got a slow Tuesday?
Hit up the HR department and offer lunch pop-ups.
That’s recurring income.
Street food vending… That’s freedom.
