
Most folks get a cart and immediately run to Facebook like it's grandma’s house on Sunday.
And hey — nothing wrong with that… unless you’re tryin’ to pay bills and not just post pretty pictures of hot dogs.
Truth is, Facebook and LinkedIn ain’t the same. One’s where your customers hang out. The other’s where the money is hiding.
Here’s how to use both without wasting your time or sounding like a lost puppy on the internet.
Facebook: Where You Build a Following (and maybe a few stalkers)
Best For:
- Showing off your cart and food
- Sharing your daily setup spots
- Getting locals to say “Oooh I’ve been meaning to try that!”
Why It Works:
Everybody and their meemaw is on Facebook. It’s where the neighborhood hangs out. If someone wants to know what’s going on in town, they’re checking Facebook — not LinkedIn.
How to Work It:
- Post your location before you set up — not after you're already packin’ up
- Join local yard sale and community groups (but don’t be spammy — nobody likes a Facebook beggar)
- Share photos of your cart, your food, and your happy customers
- Use Facebook Events when you're vending at fairs, markets, or out front of a business
But here’s the kicker…
Facebook is kinda like fishing with a bobber. You cast it out and just hope something bites. Sometimes it works, sometimes you’re just sunburned and hungry with hands that smell like worms and bologna.
LinkedIn: Where the Grownups Hand Out the Big Checks
Best For:
- Getting booked at offices, warehouses, construction sites
- Corporate lunches, city buildings, industrial parks
- Repeating weekday gigs (aka not just the weekend fair crowd)
Why It Works:
LinkedIn is full of folks who actually have the power to say, “Yeah, bring your cart Tuesday — we’ll pay you.”
HR managers, property managers, plant supervisors — they’re on there every day, bored outta their minds… until you show up with chili dogs and a solution to their boring lunch problem.
How to Work It:
- Make your profile look like a pro — include a photo of your cart, not your dog with sunglasses
- Search for job titles like “HR,” “Office Manager,” or “Facilities”
- Send a short, friendly message like: “Hey! I’m a licensed street food vendor here in town. We do pop-up lunches and catering — perfect for teams and offices. If y’all ever want to treat your staff, I’d love to help.”
That’s it. Keep it simple. Don’t overthink it.
Big Bonus Tip: Property managers LOVE food trucks at apartments — especially for resident events. Hit ‘em up.
So Which One Should You Use?
Both. But for different reasons.
- Facebook = Build your following. Be seen. Get shared.
- LinkedIn = Book real-paying gigs. Recurring ones. With contracts and everything.
If you're only using Facebook, you're fishing with one rod when you could be throwin’ a net.
