PRICING
Greg asks: Ben, For just a dog with ketchup, mustard, onions and relish I charge $2.50. My cost is .31 for the berks hot dog, .25 for the potato bun and .25 for condiments, napkin, foil sheet and propane. I am told by my customers I charge too much. I get a soda or .34 and sell it for $1 and chips I get for .24 and sell for .75. What should the best average mark up. Currently, I am at 3.00. I cant do your special, 2 dogs, chips and a drink for $5, I charge $6. I charge 2.50 for a dog with kraut and 3.00 for a chili and cheese dog. I am ready to tell these low ball, poor broke old people and food stamp recipients to drive down to McDonalds. Either get what I have to get to operate and make a little money or sell the rig! HELP! I just worked a weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the cold, snow flurries and wind that broke my umbrella for a lousy 132.00 in total sales……Profit? LMAO!
