You must have noticed, The Hot Dog Vendor Podcast is changing.  You can still expect to get all the valuable interviews, training, tips and tricks from some fantastic vendors from all over the world.  But the name took a twist: Hot Dog Answer Man  Rolls off the tongue.  So with that being said, the first episode is above.

Yes, we will continue the HDVR show every Tuesday night.

Tom from Michigan joined me and we discussed his recent entry into the world of hot dog vending.  We discussed his Big Dog cart and his latest success of 900 hot dogs in 2 hours.  I already did an article on Tom yesterday and was fortunate enough to get an interview.  Listen as Tom gives his secret behind not buying chips anymore and how is customers like his menu better.

Onion Crunch

We discussed Onion Crunch and why Tom uses it and French's.  He orders by the case.  If you haven't tried Onion Crunch yet, you better get on it. Tom's Pencil and Pad

Tom carries a pencil and a pad of paper with him everywhere.  He states that when people see his cart they want to know more, if he can come to their event or party and does he cater.  He jots down their info and then follows up with them for an entirely separate revenue stream.

How Did You Get Around Street Eats?

Tom shares how he got lucky and has been allowed to sling weenies in front of a big box home improvement store.

Facebook for Messy Dogs

Tom gets even more jobs from his Facebook business page.  This is a great way to advertise for free.  Notice how many of the successful vendors have a Facebook page and keep fans updated on their locations and events.

900 hot dogs in 2 hours

Tom shares how he booked the Coast Guard event and was able to do a guaranteed 750 hot dogs, but actually did 900!  Wow.  He was paid in advance and he shares how he handled that many customers in that short of time.  He even plugs the Big Dog cart and how well it performed the task.

Messy Dogs Serves Michigan Meats

Tom wanted to not only to offer good food, but he wanted to help his State.  Michigan was hard hit, like many others, but Tom wanted to buy local, sell local and help his community and State.  He goes the extra mile and orders Michigan meats, Michigan Water, Michigan buns and more.  He's doing his part to help the state recover.  This does two things: First it helps his community, but secondly it garners Messy Dogs with loyal fans.  His customers love knowing that they too are keeping their money local.  Excellent job, Tom!

MFVA is Adding another Partner

This one is going to help us all.  Like Vienna and several others, they are going above and beyond for vendors.  We are excited to learn more.  Stay tuned to HDVR for the announcement in a week or two.  You and I will love this one!!!
