I've been happily married 3 freak'n times, but I've been even happier divorced twice.

This last marriage I think –  is going to stick.

When I look back on those failed marriages – or as I like to call them…

“Practice” Marriages

– I can see what I did wrong.  I can honestly look back and see what things I did or didn't do that led to its ultimate demise.

I can't take credit for all the problems in those marriages, but certainly most.

It's much easier to tell the quarterback that he should have thrown the ball to number 11 after you see number 16 get intercepted.  But now it's too late.

Or is it?

The best part is that most of us learn from our mistakes.  I learned that frequenting the local titty bar was selfish and I should have at least invited her along.

In this business, we must learn from our mistakes if we want to improve our odds of success growth.

I was on the phone with a vendor this weekend.  Yes, me actually on the phone talking to someone.

He explained how he's worked multiple locations over the last (almost) 2 years and some days are good and others are horrible.  Overall, he says that he's making a nice living but he only wished he could know which days were going to be bad ahead of time so he could just stay home.

I first suggested two wonderful Tarot Card readers and offered him the advice of eating more Chinese.

hmmmmm   Wonder why I've never covered how to avoid the bad days on the blog 16 times.

Anyway, I asked him if he noticed a pattern or could review his daily log and see if any certain day(s) stood out as being historically crappy?

He hemmed and hawed around a bit and said he hasn't ever really kept up with that stuff because he's too busy.

I know  –   it does take all of 4.2 minutes a day to tally up and write down your sales info each day but if you want to make MAJOR LEAPS AND BOUNDS in your performance then it's A MUST!

Something like this maybe:

Times

Weather

Total Sales

Big mistake – I say!  You have been vending for nearly 2 years and wouldn't it be nice to look back over your nonexistent records and say, well, lookeeee there;  Tuesdays and the third week of every month are consistently crappy.

Then from that you can decide to find a new spot for those times or go fishing, take a load off and enjoy life a bit more.  Even if you didn't need to get a replacement location during those times, wouldn't it be nice to know that you could stay the fuq home?

The better your records, the better chance you will have at making positive changes.

I'm including two fantastic ways to keep excellent records.  Neither require much time and will allow you to make better decisions going forward.

It's never too late to start.  Well, unless you died yesterday.  Then it's too late.

6 weeks from now – six weeks will have passed.  Are you going to have 6 weeks of records or nothing?  Either way, the time goes by and I'd rather have some records.
