Hot tamale catering! No, seriously. This is an awesome story from a new vendor who started without a food cart or truck.
I just love getting these emails and this one is from JR, owner of La Casa Tamale. He has been saving up and studying how to start selling food and catering without a cart.
He watched my training videos and decided to go with something he knew how to do. Tamale Catering!
Plus, he has street tacos, elotes (street corn slathered with yum) and even dessert tamales. Look at these photos of the deliciousness and read his message below.
Tamale Catering, The Story…
I have watched I think every video you have out. I have to save to build my trailer so I took some of your advice and started doing something I knew about. Selling authentic tamales.
My wife is half Mexican and I've learned from her mom and her dad's family about making them. So I put out a post on Facebook and was blown away with the response.
I make my own green sauce and we offer chicken, pork and cheese. You can get them either regular or spicy. And we sell them by the dozen. We made 60 dozen the very first time, we do them once a month, the second time was 157 dozen.
We took February off to work on our newest items, dessert tamales. Strawberry and creme cheese and apple cinnamon. I also got a catering job from them for a wedding.
We have done two weddings and both where authentic taco bars. Cost us $150-$200 for the food and to prepare it. All I had to do was deliver it. No set up or serve.
And I charged $700. Thanks to you I am slowly making a dream come true. I should have my trailer built by the end of March first of April. Again thank you so much for all the free info and training. I will be joining Vendors United soon.
