Sybil's first event – really first anything – and her carrot hot dog is a hit. After all costs, she banked $1700.00 smackaroos. Sybil literally just got her Big Dog® hot dog cart and began testing, practicing and stocking up for her big gig.

Danger! Danger!

Events can be dangerous – especially for a brand new vendor. It's not about whether you can setup and keep up (although that's a challenge too) but more about all the risks that go with doing an event.

• has the event planner / coordinator lied (yes – if their lips moved at all)
• have they given you a good location – or are you next to the portable toilets (happened to a vendor in Jax)
• have they overestimated the turn out (of course they did)
• have they underestimated the vendor competition (of course they did)
• have they told you that your menu would have no competition (yup!)
• did they wait till you showed up to tell you that you couldn't serve drinks (probably)
• did they set a charity table next to you that gave away what you were trying to sell (of course)
• did they put the power supply lines for the entire event next to you (probably)
• did they turn off their phone once the event started so you couldn't get supplies through the gate (yup)

The list goes on and on and it's why I warn new and seasoned vendors about events.

Others were selling lemonade for $7.00 while hers were $3. Many thanked her for having family affordable prices. Although family friendly prices, she now realizes she should have raised her prices a bit. All in all – Sybil rocked that event and is wiser and richer for it.

Carrot Hot Dog

I did a blog article and I think a video too a while back on these vegetarian and vegan options on carts. And in the right places – it's the bomb! However, try that in my neck of the woods and people will look at you like your serving new born puppy dogs on a stick.

However, for Sybil – it was a hit. A sell out. Her crowd was mixed and she provided both.

i make a vegan carrot dog (does not taste like carrot), because of course i sell hotdogs but don't eat meat, and it absolutely sold out.

A properly prepared carrot hot dog wrapped in lettuce with all the right toppings is actually delicious. I've experimented myself while loosing that 70lbs.
